Ahhhh it's that time of year again. Are you having a lot of headaches, sore throats, runny noses, and a head that feels like a ton of bricks? For the past several days I've had a killer sore throat. I'm pretty sure it's from keeping our window open because it's gotten warmer. I've heard a lot of people with similar stories or even worse, those dreaded sinus infections. Cincinnati is one of the worse places for allergies, according to my ENT because we are in a valley. You can drive up to Cleveland and typically find immediate sinus relief. My advice? If you are chronically suffering from sinus infections (more than 2-3 per year) why go through medication and be miserable all the time? I never understand it. I've said to several people that they should look into allergy shots. Since I was a child I would get frequent sinus infections because of the change of seasons or even a significant fluctuation in temperature. For the past five years I've been in a building that's very old that has what I suspect to be a lot of mold due to water damage. The first two years I was sick constantly. In fact, I was sick so often that antibiotics stopped working. I would have the infection for a month or more...ridiculous. Someone finally suggested I look into allergy shots. I haven't had a sinus infection since. If you're in the Cincinnati area and are looking for a good doc to help with your allergies try looking Dr. Schainost on 5 mile Rd. (Anderson) - her bedside manner is a little brisk but she's extremely knowledgeable and she gets the job done! You'll feel like a whole new person!
